I’ve been thinking about religion a lot lately because its current role in politics is more extreme than I can ever remember.
Uber-religious Rick Santorum is very, very Catholic. That’s his thing. Yet he rejects the Church’s positions on war (he’s all for it), torture (he’s okay with it), death penalty (says it should be “limited”, the Church is firmly against it), global warming (he denies it) and evolution (he’s not convinced.)
I’m Catholic too. I reject their positions on contraception (I’m for it) and gays (they are not sinning, or sinners.) I think abortion is a difficult moral choice that should remain legal and available.
That’s 5 - 3. He rejects more of the Church’s positions than I do. So, what I’m saying is:
I AM MORE CATHOLIC THAN RICK SANTORUM.
